OVERDRIVE eBOOKS & DOWNLOADABLE AUDIO



The CLAMS Overdrive collection offers a wide variety of eBooks, digital magazines, and audiobooks in all genres that work with almost any device. You will need a valid CLAMS library card and a pin number to check out and download books. Kindle users may also need to know their Amazon.com login information.

If you are a new user, please visit OverDrive Help to learn the basics and get any software that you may need.

Vineyard Haven Library provides additional copies of popular eBooks exclusively for Vineyard Haven cardholders through a program called Overdrive Advantage. Always login to your account prior to searching and browsing in order to access all available titles.

Overdrive eBooks are funded in part by gifts the the Friends of the Vineyard Haven Public Library Annual Appeal.



UNIVERSAL CLASS: ONLINE CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES



Universal Class provides access to lifelong learning courses in over 30 subject areas, many of which offer continuing education units (CEUs). More than 500 courses are available, designed and led by professional instructors to build deeper understanding and mastery of subject matter. Patrons may take multiple classes and learn at their own pace.

Universal Class course offerings include Computer Training, Finance, Career Training, Health & Nutrition, Crafts and Hobbies, Basic Writing & Mathematical Skills, plus hundreds more.

A valid Vineyard Haven library card and email address are required.

 



KANOPY STREAMING MOVIES & DOCUMENTARIES


The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available for free through Vineyard Haven Public Library. Library cardholders can sign up to start streaming films instantly by visiting http://vhlibrary.kanopy.com.

Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema, including collections from The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers.

Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku. Currently library users are limited to 4 films per month.



STREAMING & DOWNLOADABLE MEDIA FROM BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY


Massachusetts residents and property owners can access additional resources including Hoopla, RBDigital, and more by registering for a free eCard from Boston Public Library.

Register for an eCard if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • You reside permanently in Massachusetts.
  • You are living in-state for most of the year to attend school.
  • You commute to a Massachusetts employer on a sustained and regular basis. (Your primary place of work.)
  • You own property (real estate) in Massachusetts.

Learn how to use your CLAMS Library Card to enjoy entertainment and learning resources including borrowing ebooks and audiobooks on Overdrive, streaming movies on Kanopy and Hoopla, taking classes online through Universal Class and Lynda.com, and taking advantage of other online resources through the Vineyard Haven Public Library and the Boston Public Library e-card program (free to all who live, reside part-time to attend school, own property, or work in Massachusetts.)

Vineyard Haven Library staff will provide one-on-one informal demonstrations and show you how to get started. Please call (508) 696-4210 or email [email protected] for an appointment. Thirty-minute appointments are available on Monday afternoons between 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, and on Saturdays between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
